Shah Leads High-Level Review in Jammu

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a crucial review meeting in Jammu on Saturday to evaluate the progress of major development projects across Jammu and Kashmir.

The session focused on vital sectors like road infrastructure, power supply, industrial growth, tourism, and digital connectivity including 4G services and optical fibre networks.

Boosting Tourism and Economic Growth

A major emphasis during the meeting was on unlocking Jammu and Kashmir's immense tourism potential.

Shah called for aggressive marketing of the region's scenic destinations to attract visitors from across the country and beyond.

He stressed expanding infrastructure, improving safety, accessibility, and connectivity to position the union territory as a global tourism hub.

Enthusiasm of tourists from across the country to visit J&K has not diminished... there is a need for aggressive marketing of J&K's tourist destinations in other states to explore the tourism potential available here. The Government of India will provide all possible assistance in the plan to develop new tourist destinations in J&K.

Beyond tourism, Shah highlighted plans to invest in sports infrastructure and academies to engage the youth, aiming for Rs 200 crore in funding.

He also pushed for strengthening the dairy sector via the National Dairy Development Board to diversify the economy and create jobs.

These initiatives reflect a holistic strategy to drive economic momentum and self-reliance.

Welfare, Security, and Long-Term Vision

Shah directed officials to achieve full saturation of government welfare schemes, ensuring benefits reach every intended recipient without delays.

He noted Jammu and Kashmir's inclusion in the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme for the first time in FY 2025-26, offering 50-year interest-free loans for capital projects to bolster fiscal stability.

On the security front, Shah instructed agencies to maintain zero infiltration and disrupt militant supply lines, praising forces for upholding peace.

In a separate meeting with BJP leaders, MPs, and MLAs, he urged strengthening party structures to deliver Prime Minister Narendra Modi's schemes at the grassroots level.

Shah linked these efforts to the broader goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, pledging unwavering central support for a developed, secure Jammu and Kashmir.

This commitment signals sustained momentum in integrating the region into India's growth story.
