Amity University Maharashtra honored Attorney General R. Venkataramani and Reliance Industries Executive Director Hital Meswani with honorary doctorates at its convocation, celebrating their outstanding contributions to law and industry.

A Grand Convocation Ceremony Unfolds in Maharashtra

Amity University Maharashtra hosted its much-anticipated convocation ceremony, drawing dignitaries, graduates, and families to celebrate academic excellence and milestone achievements.

The event spotlighted two prominent figures: Attorney General R. Venkataramani, a legal luminary guiding India's highest judicial matters, and Hital R. Meswani, a seasoned executive director at Reliance Industries Limited. Both received honorary doctorates in recognition of their exemplary careers that have shaped the nation's legal and industrial landscapes.

The ceremony buzzed with pride as hundreds of students crossed the stage to receive their degrees, marking the culmination of years of hard work amid cheers from proud parents and faculty. University officials emphasized the role of such events in inspiring the next generation to pursue excellence with integrity.

Attorney General Venkataramani's Inspirational Address

R. Venkataramani, as India's Attorney General, delivered a stirring speech that captivated the audience. He praised Amity University for its robust growth and forward-thinking approach, comparing its potential to global giants like Oxford, MIT, Yale, and Harvard.

Drawing from his vast experience in law, Venkataramani urged the graduates to view life as both an art and a science, stressing that true youthfulness resides in the mind and should never be compromised. His words resonated deeply, encouraging young minds to blend creativity with discipline in their professional journeys.

The honorary doctorate bestowed upon him acknowledged his pivotal role in upholding constitutional values and advising on critical national policies, a testament to his unwavering commitment to justice.

Hital Meswani's Legacy in Energy and Beyond

Hital R. Meswani, with nearly four decades at Reliance Industries, earned his honorary doctorate for transformative leadership in energy, refining, and petrochemicals.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Economics from the Wharton School, Meswani joined Reliance in 1990 and rose to Executive Director in 1995, overseeing petroleum business, manufacturing, and projects. He played a key role in building the Jamnagar refinery complex, now the world's largest refining hub.

His career spans polyester, plastics, telecom, and emerging renewables like solar, batteries, and green hydrogen. As a board member, he chairs vital committees on health, safety, environment, and audits for Reliance subsidiaries, showcasing his expertise in strategic planning and financial management.

"Education does not end with a certificate or a convocation. It continues in the choices we make, the risks we take, and the responsibility we assume towards the transformation of society. Progress belongs not to those who know everything, but to those willing to keep learning, and true success lies in building something that outlasts you."

University's Vision and Broader Impact

Dr. Aseem Chauhan, President and Chancellor of Amity University Maharashtra, addressed the gathering, highlighting the opportune moment for graduates to influence the world. He stressed acquiring not just technical skills but also ethics, values, and cultural foundations for lasting success.

The university reinforced its innovative edge by noting its Center for Excellence in Astrobiology's achievement in December 2024, launching India's first biological payload via ISRO's PSLV-C60 mission. This feat underscores Amity's commitment to cutting-edge research.

The convocation served as more than a degree ceremony; it was a platform bridging academia with industry and public service, motivating students to chase passion aligned with purpose.

In summary, the Amity University Maharashtra convocation celebrated Attorney General R. Venkataramani and Hital Meswani's remarkable contributions through honorary doctorates, while inspiring graduates with calls to lifelong learning, ethical leadership, and societal impact. The event highlighted the university's rising stature in education and innovation.
