Haryana government approves the final alignment of the 64-km Namo Bharat RRTS corridor linking Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, and Greater Noida, promising faster travel and reduced congestion in the NCR.

Haryana Government Greenlights Major RRTS Project

The Haryana government has taken a crucial step forward in enhancing regional connectivity by approving the final alignment of the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.

This ambitious 64-kilometer project will connect Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, and Greater Noida, spanning nearly 52 kilometers within Haryana alone. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the decision during a state assembly session, highlighting its potential to transform mobility in the National Capital Region (NCR). The approval came after a detailed meeting where various alignment options were thoroughly discussed.

This corridor, often called Namo Bharat, aims to provide high-speed rail services, cutting down travel times for millions of daily commuters who battle severe traffic jams on highways and city roads. By integrating key urban hubs, it promises seamless travel options that could redefine how people move across these bustling areas.

Key Segments and Connectivity Features

In Gurugram, the corridor features an integrated RRTS and metro section stretching about 14.5 kilometers from IFFCO Chowk to Gwal Pahari.

Key stations along this route include Sector-29, Millennium City Centre, Sector-52, Wazirabad, Sector-57, and Sector-58/61. This segment will link up with the Delhi Metro Yellow Line, the existing Gurugram Metro, and the Rapid Metro network, creating a unified transit ecosystem. Plans also include extending the Rapid Metro by around one kilometer to connect directly with the RRTS at Sector 61, along with two integrated stations and six metro-only ones.

Moving to Faridabad, an approximately 16-kilometer elevated stretch from Sainik Colony to Badshahpur will serve vital areas like the NIT region, Bata Chowk, Sectors 12 to 15, and New Faridabad. It will connect with the Delhi Metro Violet Line and interface with other major lines. Further ahead, the route extends to Noida and Greater Noida, integrating with the Delhi-Meerut RRTS, Red Line Metro in Ghaziabad, and Aqua Line at key points like Char Murti Chowk and Alpha-1.

The full alignment from Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport will pass through Knowledge Park 5, Surajpur, and Yamuna City sectors, even linking to future high-speed rail options. This multi-layered connectivity is set to boost airport access, including direct links to IGI Airport in Delhi and the upcoming Jewar Airport.

Broader Impacts on Economy and Environment

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized in the assembly.

More than just a rail line, this project is envisioned as a transformative regional mobility network integrating key economic centres such as Gurugram, Faridabad, and Noida within the NCR. It will offer seamless and high-speed travel to lakhs of commuters, significantly reduce traffic congestion, and contribute positively to environmental sustainability,

The initiative addresses the growing pressures of urbanization, with rising populations in these cities fueling unprecedented traffic woes. By easing road congestion, it will not only save hours for office-goers traveling between Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida but also foster economic growth through new investment opportunities and job creation. Real estate along the corridor is likely to see a surge, promoting balanced urban development in South Haryana.

Environmentally, the shift to efficient public transit will cut down vehicle emissions, supporting greener cities. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in its final stages, with instructions to expedite it through the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh noted that combining multiple expressways and RRTS lines could revolutionize the local economy. Overall, this project positions Haryana as a leader in modern infrastructure.

This approval marks a milestone for NCR's transit future, promising reduced travel times, integrated networks, economic boosts, and sustainable growth across Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, and Greater Noida.
